15.2.2015 – Let’s get to know some places of Delhi! First stop was Gurudwara Bangla Sahib the most well known Sikh temple. Sikhs give service to homeless and poor people. Together with volunteers they keep the whole complex clean, renovated and e.g. cook for people. This means, everyone can get free food there three times a day, seven days a week. Unfortunately we could not take part in this ceremony. But we’ve visited the inner of the temple as well the most spiritual place. One has to give off shoes, wash ones hands as well as feet and cover ones head.
After a nice walk around the holy pond we had some special tea called Garam Chai, which is mostly the best thing I’ve ever had according to tea. What a great taste. The main ingredients are Black tea, Milk, Sugar, Cinnamon, Cloves, Ginger & Green Cardamom pods.
Next stop was one of the oldest markets, Chandni Chowk. One of the most crowded places I’ve seen so far. In a small side-street called Gali Paranthe Wali. Street kitchen since 150 years and we had there fried bread with all sorts of spices. Our first contact with real indian food. We loved it so much and it’s so different from what we call indian food in Austria.
Last stop for today was Dilli Heart, a market which focuses on all kind of locally manufactured goods. A paradise for women and tourists who want go buy nice souvenirs from their India-trip. Thanks to Gaurav we could get something nice for Karoline.
On the way back home to our hotel we also crossed an indian wedding, which is a story of it’s own.
